Journey Begins Here, Today
Tell
Your Story
Many students face obstacles to overcome, whether it is less than positive learning experiences, or believing in an inability to learn. As adults, previous learning can be an advantage as well as sometimes what needs to be unlearned. As you embark on this journey, consider where you are, where you've been, and what you need to learn to get where you want to go.
Discover
Throughout the course, we will be talking about these questions and many more:
How can disorders or too much empathy become your superpower?
How does surveillance contribute to safety?
What actions impact the future?
Start to Reaize
Through engaging class activities and readings students will quickly overcome imposter syndrome. Projects will include pportunities to share and connect with each other and members of the community as well as plan an inclusive college.

Course Benefits
02
Community: Online & Face to Face
During our face-to-face meetings (twice a week), we will use the questions from the course road map (syllabus) to guide our journey.
Some of the readings we will do will be in a program called Perusall, that allows you to annotate (write what you're thinking as you read); as well as to see fellow students' comments.
In the Perusall account we'll create together, you will simple use the course code WESTDORP-8MYVP upon registration.
Research has found that students that participants in Perusall reading:
-
Contribute thoughtful questions and comments to the class discussion, spread throughout the entire reading
-
Start the reading early
-
Break the reading into chunks (instead of trying to do it all at once)
-
Read all the way to the end of the assigned reading
-
Pose thoughtful questions and comments that elicit responses from classmates
-
Answer questions from others
-
Pose thoughtful questions and helpful answers
