Futurism: re-imagine and re-brand cultural traditions
About Us
Course re-design in an effort to make a difference, one student at a time.
Kellogg Community College has lots of room for improvement when it comes to graduation rates. Fifteen percent of students graduate, and we often want to say not all students have a goal of earning a degree. As an instructor, I believe I could do a better job of sparking students' imaginations, and help them see their futures.
Students will have the opportunity to consider personal views about the future, then to explore an indigenous, latino, african, novel and to participate in a project to impact the future of the community.
As readers, we have opportunity to travel in other people's shoes, to experience parts of the world we may never see in person, all from the comfort of home. These experiences help us to understand more, rather than insist on being understood. It makes us better humans, and based on KCC's graduation rates, meeting students where they are and helping them to re-imagine their futures looks promising.
